College Info

President Anita GlinieckiWelcome to the Housatonic Community College Website!

The website gives you a glimpse of some highlights that make Housatonic outstanding. Whether you are just beginning your higher education, continuing your path toward your professional goals, or advancing your career, Housatonic can meet your needs.

In today’s world, a college education is essential for those who wish to compete and succeed. Statistics show that in Connecticut over 67% of the available jobs will require a college degree (Carnevale, Strohl Help Wanted: Projections of Jobs and Education Requirements through 2018, Georgetown University, Center on Education and the Workforce, Executive Summary, June 2010). Additionally, those with a college degree or certificate earn significantly more than those who stop their education at high school.

You’ll find many more reasons why Housatonic works for you, please consider:

  • You can prepare to transfer through many articulation agreements with Connecticut state colleges and with private colleges and universities which often allow transfer as a junior.
  • When you complete your program at HCC, those of you ready to enter the working world can be confident that you have the skills and knowledge needed by today’s businesses and professions. Our caring, dedicated faculty have real-world experience in their areas of expertise. They will share their knowledge with you and have the answers to your questions. Those of you already engaged in meaningful work will find many courses designed to upgrade or enhance your skills.
  • You’ll work in media-rich classrooms and benefit from teaching methods and technologies that will increase your value in the working environment.
  • Housatonic’s Student Services includes individual tutoring, personal and transfer counseling, Men’s and Women’s Centers, and clubs such as those representing Criminal Justice, Early Childhood, or Psychology academic programs to name only a few.  Recently, students from the Psychology Club participated in the New England Psychology Association (NEPA) regional conference held on the HCC campus.
  • Student Activities provide speakers, career panels and discussions, gatherings, and trips where you will meet new people and build a network of friends and future colleagues. The Student Senate offers you the opportunity to develop leadership skills and participate in governance.

Please visit us on campus at 900 Lafayette Blvd. in Bridgeport to see for yourself what makes HCC a good choice for you.
