HCC Prof May 4 To Discuss
CT Irish in Civil War

FAIRFIELD – Housatonic Community College Prof. David Koch will discuss the participation of Connecticut’s Irish immigrants in the Civil War Sunday, May 4, at Fairfield’s Gaelic-American Club.

The talk will address such questions as why the CT Irish took part in the war so enthusiastically, especially since they were new immigrants who were poor, Irish and Catholic. The talk also will address why these soldiers were known for their fighting ability.

The talk will be held 2 -4 p.m., at the Gaelic-American Club, 74 Beach Road, Fairfield. The registration fee is $5. For more information, call Mary at (203) 377-2346.
