...from the President
Dear Friends,
Fiscal year 2000-2001 was a challenging and satisfying year replete with many noteworthy accomplishments. The Foundation experienced growth in all areas.
Of particular significance this year, both to the Foundation and to the College, was a major exhibition and fundraising gala surrounding an exhibit of Ansel Adams photographs. The portfolio, Ansel Adams: Classic Images, was sponsored and presented by SNET and was on display at the Housatonic Museum of Art from February 4th through March 21st.
The Foundations Black-Tie Gala, the exhibition and the educational activities surrounding it brought to the community a new level of awareness of the College and the financial role the Foundation plays in making such an event a reality.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the HCC Foundation, I would like to express my sincere thanks to all of our supporters who made this extraordinary event possible.
The year did not pass without significant accomplishments in other areas of Foundation support. Annual scholarships and awards totaled nearly $72,000 and were distributed to 123 students. This financial assistance contributed significantly to helping these students reach their individual academic goals.
Corporate and Foundation grants totaled $91,300 during the year, providing funding for scholarships, the Concert at Noon series, the Womens Center, academic programs and Museum exhibitions. Included in this figure was a $10,000 Fleet Bank grant that provided program support for the Colleges new biotechnology program.
Unrestricted Foundation funds through the Foundations Gift to the College supported the Colleges Courtyard Festival, the Academic Profile Test, Diversity Committee events and professional development for College staff.
As I look back on this successful year, I know that the Housatonic Community College Foundation is well positioned to continue its support of the College and the students it is here to serve.
Sincerely,
Allan J. Rosen, Esq.
