CULTURE OF THE DEAF FOCUS OF 11/17 HCC PERFORMANCE
BRIDGEPORT – The Culture of the Deaf will be spotlighted Thursday,
Nov. 17 when sign language storyteller Eileen Dulen-Jennings makes
a two-part appearance at Housatonic Community College.
At 11:30 a.m., Dulen-Jennings will conduct a workshop with HCC Theater
Arts students in which she and the students will develop a performance
piece. At 6: 30 p.m., the piece developed in the workshop will be performed
and Dulen-Jennings will give a solo performance. Both events
will be held in the Performing Arts Center in Lafayette Hall.
The events, which are free and open to the public, are being held as
part of the college’s Third Thursday Cultural Celebration series.
During most months in the academic year, a performing artist representing
a specific culture comes to the college on the third Thursday to develop
and perform a piece with Theater Arts students and give a solo performance.
