U.S. REP. HIMES KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT HCC 9/11 REMEMBRANCE

BRIDGEPORT – U.S. Rep. Jim Himes will be the
keynote speaker at a 9/11 remembrance ceremony Tuesday, Sept. 6 at
Housatonic Community College. Himes will headline a group of speakers
that includes HCC President Anita T. Gliniecki and HCC Psychology Professor
Jack Sopchak, who will facilitate a discussion of the tragedy and its
impact. As part of the remembrance, a selection of photos from Housatonic’s
Art Museum will be on display. Those photos show the grief, shock and
courage demonstrated in the wake of the tragedy. Also on display will
be a 9/11 quilt made by HCC students, faculty staff in 2001. The remembrance
will begin at 5 p.m. in the third floor concourse in Beacon Hall, opposite
the skywalk from the HCC parking garage. The speaking portion of the
program featuring Rep. Himes will begin at 5:30 p.m. The event is open
to the public at no charge. HCC is located at 900 Lafayette
Blvd. in downtown Bridgeport, less than 150 yards off I-95 (Exit 27)
and Rte. 8 (Exit 1), a block from the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor
Yard. Free parking is available in the Housatonic garage.
