BRIDGEPORT -- Anita Gliniecki, president of Housatonic Community College, has
announced the retirement of Fairfield’s Maureen Dowdle, HCC Director of
Institutional Advancement.
Dowdle, a Fairfield resident, has held that position at HCC since1998 with responsibilities
for all fundraising, resource acquisition and has been the liaison with the HCC
Foundation. The HCC Foundation most currently waged a major gifts campaign which
raised over $1million to provide scholarships for HCC students, support for the
Housatonic Museum of Art, and support for the college beyond the basics provided
by the state.
On Wednesday, June 22, the HCC Foundation Board, HCC faculty and staff gathered
in the offices of Bridgeport architect, Paul Antinozzi who is president of the
HCC Foundation Board. Antinozzi praised Dowdle for her years of service to the
Foundation. He said, “Maureen has been an inspirational leader for us all
and has kept us on the track for the good of the college. We wish her well, but
are very sorry to see her go.”
Other remarks were made by Attorney Barry Hawkins, past Foundation president.
President Gliniecki praised Dowdle’s service to the college. “When
she came to us, the Foundation had barely started. She has made this Board a
strong, vital arm of the college. While she pays attention to detail, she never
loses sight of the big picture. She will be replaced, but it will be very hard
to fill her shoes.”
Previously, Dowdle was Director of Development at the Mercy Learning Center in
Bridgeport. Besides membership in the Association of Fundraising Professional,
she is a member of Planned Giving Group of Connecticut, Council of Developmental
Directors for the Connecticut Community College System, and the Women’s
Leadership Council.
