Stratford Native Tops Field At HCC Awards Night
Achieved 4.0 Average Takes Home 11 Awards
BRIDGEPORT – Stratford native Brandon T. Bisceglia
topped the field of award winners at Housatonic Community College’s
recent 40th Annual Awards Night, garnering 11 awards including the
Academic Dean prize for maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
Bisceglia, one of eight people to win the coveted Academic Dean Prize,
was honored for winning the national New Century Scholar Award, sponsored
by U.S.A Today, the Coca-Cola Foundation, the Coca-Cola Scholars
Foundation, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the American Association
of Community Colleges. He was of only 50 college students from throughout
the country and the only one from Connecticut to receive the $2,000
award.
Bisceglia was honored at an All-Connecticut Academic Team Awards Ceremony
at the State Capitol in April.
Other awards he won include the Phi Theta Kappa All USA and Connecticut
Community College Academic Award; the Housatonic Scholar; Dale Ward
Scholarship; Dale Ward Endowed Scholarship; Phi Theta Kappa; Swain
Award for Excellence in English and Literature; Outstanding Contributions
to Horizons, the Student Newspaper of HCC; The Post Publishing Prize
for Outstanding Overall Achievement in the Journalism Program; and
Outstanding Service as President of the Chi Rho Chapter of Phi Theta
Kappa.
