South African Early Childhood Ed Team Visiting Bridgeport To Observe Best Practices
BRIDGEPORT – A team of Early Childhood
Education specialists from South Africa’s Royal Bafokeng Kingdom is
in the Bridgeport area to observe and interact with the area’s
early childhood education community. Among their goals is to gather
information to be used to help create an early childhood education
lab school back home. As part of the visit, the South African contingent
will is spending days at HCC attending workshops and discussions
and conducting focused observations at HCC’s nationally acclaimed
Early Childhood Education Laboratory School, which President Clinton
described in a 1998 visit here as “what every child in America
needs.” The group will be HCC for the workshops and focused
observations 4/4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. After the visit, HCC will
offer online courses for Bridgeport and South African ECE specialists
and create an online discussion board that will link HCC’s
lab school with the new lab school being set up in South Africa.
The visit is made possible through $110,000 in Rotary grants. The
South African contingent is staying with area Rotarians, including HCC
President Anita T. Gliniecki of Monroe.
