HCC Prof. To Receive Award April 8
Early Childhood Education Program Lauded
TRUMBULL – Housatonic Community College’s
Dr. Laurie Noe of Bethel, coordinator of the college’s early
childhood education program, will accept an award April 8 for support
given to the area’s early childhood education community.
Noe will receive
Cooperative Educational Services’ (C.E.S.) “Success through Educational
Partnerships” (STEP) award “in recognition of the guidance and
training you and your staff provided to prepare school readiness preschool
teachers to serve as mentors for aspiring early childhood education teachers,” said
C.E.S. Executive Director Evan Pitkoff. Noe was nominated for the award by
Linda Page, director of C.E.S’s school readiness preschool program.
STEP awards are
given to individuals and organizations that go above and beyond to support
C.E.S. in its mission to identify and provide quality education opportunities
for educators, students and communities, Pitkoff said.
Noe will accept
the award at an April 8 ceremony.
HCC offers associate
degrees in early childhood education, including a special education option.
In addition, the college offers early childhood education, Childhood Development
Associate preparation and infant/toddler certificates.
HCC maintains a
state-of-the-art early childhood laboratory school that provides a high-quality,
pre-school program for the children of students, faculty, staff and the community,
and serves as a laboratory setting for HCC’s Early Childhood Education
Program. The school received accolades from President Clinton, who described
it as “what every child in America needs.”
Created over 40 years ago by Connecticut legislature, C.E.S. is one
of six regional educational service centers (RESCs). Its goal is to
provide innovative, cutting edge programs and services to meet the
demands of Fairfield County school districts and communities.
