MANUFACTURING IN 21ST CENTURY FOCUS OF HCC WORKSHOP
BRIDGEPORT – Housatonic Community College’s
Industrial Technology associate degree program will be the focus
of a free workshop Thursday, Aug. 19 at the college.
The workshop, which will be held from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., will address
emerging trends and current practice in lean manufacturing and HCC’s industrial
technology program.
The discussion of lean manufacturing will focus on cutting-edge practices to
reduce waste, reduce defects, help an organization adopt a continuous improvement
culture, increase flexibility in the manufacturing process, and empower employees
to learn from their mistakes and improve their skills.
The discussion of HCC’s Industrial Technology Program will address how
the program provides the knowledge and skills needed by today’s
manufacturers in order to compete effectively in the global marketplace.
Courses such as Writing and Research in Business and Industry (Technical
Writing), CAD Mechanical AutoCAD, Statistical Process Control (SPC),
Manufacturing Processes, Engineering Processes (Materials), Metrology,
Environmental Safety and Health, and Computer Numeric Control (CNC)
are designed to provide these skills.
The workshops, to be held in Room A225 in Lafayette Hall on the
HCC campus, are sponsored jointly by HCC and the College of Technology's
Regional Center for Next Generation Manufacturing. For more information,
