Time-Travel Pioneer Ronald Mallett
To Speak April 1 at HCC
Developed Equations that show time travel possible
3 p.m. In Beacon Hall Events Center
Free and Open to Public
BRIDGEPORT – UCONN Professor, author
and time-travel pioneer Dr. Ronald Mallet, who has shown that time
travel is theoretically possible, will speak at Housatonic Community
College April
1.
Dr.
Mallett, author of a compelling book Time Traveler: A Scientist’s
Mission to Make Time Travel a Reality, will discuss his rise from
poverty to a distinguished scientific and academic career. Dr. Mallett,
one of the nation’s first
African Americans to earn a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, will lay
out the technical specifications for what he envisions as a working
machine.
Mallet, who has become an inspiration to other African Americans,
became interested in time travel as a 10-year-old boy grieving the
death of his father. Finding a comic-book version of H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine, he
set out to find a way to travel back in time to be reunited with his
father.
Decades
later, as a tenured professor in UCONN’s physics department,
he built his childhood dream into a working model of time travel. Dr.
Mallett and his colleagues $250,000 to conduct their time-travel experiments
and are seeking public and private donations.
The
movie rights to his book, which tells the story of his quest to build
a time machine, have been purchased by director Spike Lee.
The
talk will begin at 3 p.m. in the Events Center in Beacon Hall.
