MANUFACTURING IN 21ST CENTURY FOCUS OF HCC WORKSHOP
BRIDGEPORT – Housatonic Community College’s
Industrial Technology associate degree program will be the focus
of a workshop Thursday, Jan 14 at the college.
The workshop, which will be held at the college from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.
will focus on emerging trends and current practice in lean manufacturing
and HCC’s
industrial technology program.
The discussion of lean manufacturing will focus on cutting-edge practices to
reduce waste, reduce defects, help an organization adopt a continuous improvement
culture, increase flexibility in the manufacturing process, and empower employees
to learn from their mistakes and improve their skills.
The discussion of HCC’s Industrial Technology Program will focus on how
the program provides the knowledge and skills needed by today’s manufacturers
in order to compete effectively in the global marketplace. Courses
such as Writing and Research in Business and Industry (Technical Writing),
CAD Mechanical AutoCAD, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Manufacturing
Processes, Engineering Processes (Materials), Metrology, Environmental
Safety and Health, and Computer Numeric Control (CNC) are designed
to provide these skills.
HCC will offer the first and second courses in the Industrial Technology
program, CAD Mechanical AutoCAD and Manufacturing Processes, next semester.
The workshop will be held in Room A225 in Lafayette Hall on the HCC campus. HCC
is located at 900 Lafayette Blvd. in downtown Bridgeport, less than 150 yards
off I-95 (Exit 27) and Rte. 8 (Exit 1), a block from the Arena at Harbor Yard.
