HCC REGISTRATION PARTY HAS FIFTIES THEMEGOOD PHOTO/FOOTAGE/ACTUALITY OPPORTUNITYBRIDGEPORT - Housatonic Community College will come alive with the sights and sounds of the 1950s August 26 and 27 when a “Happy Daze” registration party will be held. The event will feature ‘50s movies, Good Humor ice cream, candy apples and, from noon to 1:30 on August 27, an appearance by KC101 radio personality Tucker, who will add to the festive atmosphere with music and audience interaction. Faculty and staff on hand will be dressed in ‘50s style, with poodle skirts, saddle shoes, Hawaiian shirts, leather biker jackets and other fashions associated with the “Happy Days” era. Students who register on those two days have the chance to win a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle, courtesy of Harley Davidson of Bridgeport. The party will go on during registration sessions, which will be held Monday, August 26 from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, August 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other registration sessions will be held Thursday, August 29 from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon. A special registration session for senior citizens and high school partnership students will be held Sept. 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. With a five-year-old campus in the heart of Connecticut's largest city, Housatonic is one of the region's fastest-growing public community colleges. Since it moved to the new campus in January 1997, HCC's enrollment has increased by 61 percent. According to the most recent statistics released by the Washington D.C.-based American Association of Community Colleges, HCC is the second fastest-growing community college in New England. In response to increased enrollments and changing workplace needs both regionally and nationally, HCC has increased the number of programs offered from 43 to 66 since moving to the new campus. The college is located at 900 Lafayette Blvd. in Bridgeport, less than 150 yards off I-95 and Rte. 8. |
