Psi Beta Induction

BRIDGEPORT - Fifteen area students at Housatonic Community College were recently inducted into Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges.

The students, who were inducted into Psi Beta in a special ceremony at HCC April 18, include:

  • Karen Sweet of Ansonia.
  • Shelly Mendez, Amy Martin, Daniel Quintero, Faith Bailey, Tanesha Benjamin, Jacqueline Abrams, Angela J.
  • Maione and Jenelle A. Aponte of Bridgeport.
  • Jonathan T. Page of Monroe.
  • Janet Auger and Janice V. Mitchell of Milford.
  • Danielle C. Egervari of Shelton.
  • Dana Lambert and Stasia Wierczerzak of Trumbull.

To be eligible for Psi Beta, students must be in the top 35 percent of their class or maintain a 3.0 grade point average on the 4.0 system. In addition, students must have completed three psychology or psychology-related courses, maintaining a “B” average, and must have completed 12 semester hours of college credit.

With a five- year old campus in the heart of Connecticut's largest city, Housatonic is one of the country's fastest-growing public community colleges. Since it moved to the new downtown campus in 1997. HCC's enrollment has increased 61 percent. According to the most recent statistics, released by the Washington D.C- based American Association of Community Colleges, HCC was ranked among the nations 34 fastest-growing public community colleges and was third in the northeast.

HCC has increased the number of programs offered from 43 to 65 since moving to its new campus.
