HOUSATONIC COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO OFFER
FOUR CLASSES IN NEW HIGH-TECH MAC LAB
BRIDGEPORT - Housatonic Community College's new high tech
Macintosh computer lab will be the site of four graphic design courses
in March and April offered through the Continuing Education Department.
The new computer graphics lab, which offers the latest state-of-the-art
design software and accessories, has increased in size by 25%.
Sponsored through a technical equipment grant received by the graphic
design department, the new Macintosh computers, which are twice as fast
as the fastest PC, have 800 mhx, 60 gigabyte hard drives and 21- inch

The 21- inch monitors will allow an 8 1/2 x 11 document to be seen
in its actual size. Each computer is installed with the latest versions
of leading software, including Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Photoshop,
Quark Xpress, Fireworks, Flash and others.
According to Michael Stein, graphics design professor at HCC, "this
reflects our commitment to having the latest up to date software."
Other new features in the lab include Heidelberg and Hewlett Packard
laser scanners, a Textronic laser printer, and an LCD projector."
This is an elegant platform for publications and web design," added
Stein.
Stein and fellow art professor John Favret sacrificed office space to
accommodate the labs expansion from 15 to 20 stations.
