EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
During the month of December the following significant construction activities
continue or have been achieved:
- Completion of the erection of the structural steel at the “garage” area;
- MEPS Trade Contractors continue to install hangers from the ceiling to support their future work;
- Installation of the new ductwork and chilled and hot water piping continued this period;
- Installation of new storm water waste lines within Beacon Hall continued this period;
- Installation of electrical conduits continued this period;
- Installation of new sanitary lines continued this period;
- Installation of exterior concrete masonry unit (CMU) back up and face brick has been substantially completed this period;
- Installation of aluminum window and curtainwall frames and glazing continued this period;
- Installation of lite gage interior framing at stairs “A” and “B” began this period;
- Installation of new boilers and hot water tank installed this period;
- MEPS inspection and sign off by DPW’s Building Official of all typical rooms on the second floor achieved this period.
During the month of January the following significant construction activities will commence or continue:
- Completion of the erection of Structural Steel for the overhead bridge from the parking garage to Beacon Hall;
- Completion of the installation of hanger assemblies to support future mechanical and electrical systems;
- Continued installation of the new MEPS systems throughout Beacon Hall;
- Completion of the interior masonry work;
- Completion of exterior cold formed metal framing at the “A” and “B” stairwells;
- Commencement of the installation of the Exterior Metal Panel System;
- Installation of new chillers is scheduled for this period.
The General Contractor has not updated the Construction Schedule for Beacon Hall. The last schedule issued has a data date of November 28, 2007. This schedule continues to indicate that there is about a three to four week slippage from the original base line commitment of achieving substantial completion by July 5, 2008. The schedule now indicates that this date is forecasted to be July 28, 2008. The schedule for the Performing Arts Center has been not been updated from the last data date, however the added work is forecasted to be completed as previously agreed to by all parties.
The Construction Administrator continues to meet throughout the month with the Project Team chairing the Owner’s Meetings and participating in the General Contractor’s Subcontractor Coordination Meetings.
