DPW Project BI-CTC-407
November 2006
Report #1

Newfield Construction's contract is formally received during the first week of November. It was agreed by all parties that the official start date will be November 6, 2006.

As per the request of the DPW, Fusco Corporation issues an RFQ for the Systems Commissioning Authority.  Bids are received, evaluated, and a contract awarded.

Mobilization begins in earnest during the week of November 20, 2006. Testa Construction, who is their Sitework Subcontractor, begins by relocating the College's art work. Other activities follow, such as tree removal, grubbing, removal of top soil and selective site demolition.

Site demolition begins with the removal of concrete curbing along the east and south sides of the building.

Ferguson Electric mobilizes on site the last week of the month to remove and make safe the existing site lighting within the construction areas. They begin the installation of the temporary power and wiring in the Sound Building along with the temporary power to the construction trailers. Activation of the power to the Sound building and construction trailers by United Illuminating (UI) will probably be after the New Year.

Fusco meets on site with Newfield, HCC and UI to determine the best way to provide temporary power to the construction trailer and the project site.  It is agreed that the power should be taken from the Parking Garage.

Newfield issued a Master Schedule on October 26, 2006. At the end of the month of November, they were still on target with the dates identified for submission of shop drawings and the start date for construction work activities.
