Prior to joining Housatonic Community College in January, 1998, Professor Danzer spent many years in various capacities as an electronic engineer in the aerospace industry. Working with advanced technology, he formulated and designed a number of major airborne and shipboard systems including radars, computers and various other pieces of military hardware. In 1999 he was elected as a Senior Life Member of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers (IEEE), the international professional organization of electronic engineers.
He has been awarded 11 patents and is the author of a number of professional papers. During his career in aerospace he was an adjunct professor at several Connecticut colleges, specializing in teaching courses in electronics and computers. He is also the author of three books, over 150 magazine articles and the author of several chapters in a widely internationally distributed handbook. The books and magazine articles are primarily in the areas of computers, electronics and amateur radio. He was awarded the 2004 Bill Orr Technical Writing Award from the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the national organization that represents 300,000 radio amateurs or “hams” in the US.
At Housatonic, his primary specialty is computer hardware. The courses he teaches are usually in the areas of PC hardware, data communications, electronics, digital logic design and some Microsoft application software.
Current hobbies include amateur (ham) radio and drowning worms (sometimes referred to as fishing.)
