Ansel Adams: Classic Images
Information For Educators
January 5, 2001
Dear Arts Educators,
Ansel Adams is one of the most recognized artists of the 20th century. His photographs have been used as covers for calendars, in advertisements, and as reminders of the great outdoors. And yet, most of us are not aware of his techniques and other contributions to the arts community nor have we on the East Coast had many opportunities to view his original works.
From February 4 through March 16, 2001, Ansel Adams: Classic Images, a special exhibit on loan from SNET and SBC Communications Inc. and organized by the Carey Ellis Company in Houston will be on display in the Burt Chernow Galleries at Housatonic Community College, Bridgeport.
The Ansel Adams museum set collection provides you, as an educator of the arts, and your students a great opportunity to learn more about this wonderful artist. We encourage you to participate in an educational experience created through a partnership of SNET, People's Bank, and the Housatonic Community College Foundation. You are cordially invited to attend a special reception for art educators Wednesday, February 7 from 4-6pm. Art educators are encouraged to attend this special reception, to view the collection and determine how your classes might benefit from the exhibit. If time does not permit you to schedule a visit for your class, the educational materials needed to introduce your students to Ansel Adams and his art are also available through a special Internet web-site www.hcc.commnet.edu. Please be aware that the number of groups that can be accommodated on guided tours at the museum is limited and schools will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. School tours can be scheduled by calling Janet Luongo at (203) 846-2642 or JLuongo3@aol.com.
