CLEP and DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized
Tests) Exams
College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) and DSST exams give students the opportunity to receive college credit for information acquired through independent or prior study, on-the-job training, professional development, or internships. Credit is awarded by earning qualifying scores on any of the 35 computerized CLEP exams or 37 DSST tests.
Housatonic Community College recognizes and awards CLEP and DSST credit for students who are matriculated and are using the credits towards degree requirements. Students are advised to meet with their academic advisors prior to scheduling an exam to make sure the CLEP credits will fit into the requirements and/or electives of their selected major. Credits will appear on HCC transcripts but are not used for calculating Grade Point Average or eligibility for Academic Honors designation at graduation.
**Qualifying tests and acceptable scores are determined by each individual college. If you are a student from another college, check with your school to determine what their policy is regarding awarding CLEP and DSST credits.
HCC is an official open, military-friendly testing center.
